SONOGRAPHY CENTER - OPEN ON SUNDAYS

Advanced Ultrasound Imaging
for Women's Health

Your health matters every day. Get the diagnostic care you need with our gynecological sonography services available on Sundays.

Gynecological sonography is an important diagnostic imaging service used to evaluate the female reproductive system, including the uterus, ovaries, endometrium, cervix, and surrounding pelvic structures. At our hospital, gynecological ultrasound examinations help physicians investigate symptoms, assess reproductive health, and support accurate clinical diagnosis and treatment planning.

Using ultrasound technology that employs high-frequency sound waves, gynecological sonography provides real-time images without ionizing radiation. Depending on the patient’s symptoms and clinical requirements, the examination may be performed through the lower abdomen or using a specialized transvaginal probe.

Our gynecological sonography services are performed according to clinical indications, with a focus on patient comfort, privacy, and diagnostic quality.

Types of Gynecological Sonography Available

Transabdominal Pelvic Ultrasound

Transabdominal pelvic ultrasound is performed by placing an ultrasound probe over the lower abdomen. It provides an overview of the uterus, ovaries, and pelvic structures.

  • Evaluation of pelvic pain or abdominal discomfort
  • Assessment of uterine fibroids and pelvic masses
  • Initial evaluation of ovarian cysts
  • Examination of pelvic anatomy

Transvaginal Sonography (TVS)

Transvaginal sonography uses a specialized ultrasound probe inserted into the vagina to obtain detailed images of the uterus, endometrium, and ovaries.

  • Abnormal or heavy uterine bleeding
  • Evaluation of the endometrial lining
  • Assessment of ovarian cysts and adnexal masses
  • Investigation of pelvic pain
  • Evaluation of selected early pregnancy concerns
  • Assessment of infertility-related conditions

Follicular Monitoring Scan

Follicular monitoring is a series of ultrasound examinations used to observe the growth and development of ovarian follicles during the menstrual cycle.

  • Fertility evaluation
  • Monitoring ovulation induction treatment
  • Assessment of follicular development
  • Supporting the timing of selected fertility procedures

Pelvic Doppler Ultrasound

Pelvic Doppler ultrasound evaluates blood flow in selected pelvic structures. It may provide additional information when investigating certain ovarian or uterine abnormalities.

  • Additional assessment of selected ovarian masses
  • Evaluation of pelvic vascularity
  • Supporting the characterization of certain gynecological abnormalities

3D and 4D Ultrasound

Three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound produces reconstructed images of pelvic structures, while four-dimensional (4D) ultrasound displays three-dimensional images in real time.

These techniques may be useful for selected clinical indications, particularly when evaluating uterine shape and certain congenital uterine abnormalities.

Saline Infusion Sonography (SIS)

Saline infusion sonography, also known as sonohysterography, is a specialized ultrasound examination in which sterile saline is introduced into the uterine cavity through the cervix.

  • Suspected endometrial polyps
  • Assessment of submucosal fibroids
  • Investigation of selected causes of abnormal uterine bleeding
  • Evaluation of abnormalities within the uterine cavity

Hysterosalpingo-Contrast Sonography (HyCoSy)

HyCoSy is a specializedly used to assess fallopian tube patency. A suitable contrast agent is introduced through the cervix, and ultrasound is used to observe its passage.

  • Infertility investigations
  • Assessment of whether the fallopian tubes appear open
  • Evaluation as part of a fertility work-up

Frequently Asked Questions

Is gynecological sonography safe?
Ultrasound uses sound waves rather than ionizing radiation. When performed by trained professionals for appropriate medical indications, it is generally considered safe.
Is transvaginal ultrasound painful?
Most patients tolerate the examination well, although some may experience temporary discomfort or pressure. Inform the sonographer or clinician if you feel uncomfortable at any point.
Can ultrasound detect ovarian cysts and fibroids?
Yes. Ultrasound is commonly used to identify and characterize uterine fibroids and ovarian cysts. Additional tests may be required depending on their appearance and clinical significance.
Is gynecological ultrasound useful for infertility?
Yes. Pelvic ultrasound and follicular monitoring can support fertility evaluation. Specialized examinations such as HyCoSy may be used to assess fallopian tube patency when indicated.
